[ PROCLAMATION NO. 724, October 28, 2024 ]
DECLARING THE MONTH OF DECEMBER OF EVERY YEAR AS "PHILIPPINE ARCHITECTURAL FESTIVAL - NATIONAL ARCHITECTURE MONTH"
WHEREAS, Section 17, Article II of the Constitution provides that the State shall give priority to education, science and technology, arts, culture, and sports to foster patriotism and nationalism, accelerate social progress, and promote total human liberation and development;
WHEREAS, Proclamation No. 934 (s. 1971) declares the second week of December of every year as "Architecture Week" to draw attention to the invaluable contribution of architects towards planned urban growth, environmental planning, and over-all social progress;
WHEREAS, the Philippines, renowned for its rich architectural legacy and vibrant contemporary designs, stands as a key player in the global architectural arena through preservation of cultural heritage and advancement of sustainable design practices;
WHEREAS, there is a need to amend Proclamation No. 934 by extending the observance of the Architecture Week to a month-long celebration to provide an extensive platform to promote the discipline, recognize the contributions of Filipino architects, and highlight architecture's role in urban planning, sustainability, and social progress; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to recognize the significant contributions of transport cooperatives in ensuring the advancement of the TCP and in providing meaningful and and responsive service to the transport sector, as well as to agencies, institutions, and individuals; and
WHEREAS, Section 17, Article VII of the Constitution vests in the President the power of control over all the executive departments, bureaus and offices and the mandate to ensure the faithful execution of laws;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND R, MARCOS, JR., President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and existing laws, do hereby declare the month of December of every year as "Philippine Architecture Festival - National Architecture Month.(awÞhi("
For this purpose, the Board of Architecture, under the Professional Regulation Commission, together with accredited architectural organizations, shall lead the observance of the Philippine Architectural Festival - National Architecture Month.
All other agencies and instrumentalities of the National Government, including government-owned or -controlled corporations and state universities and colleges, are hereby enjoined, and all local government units, non-government organizations, professional associations, and the private sector, are hereby encouraged to actively participate and render the necessary support and assistance to the Board of Architecture for the effective implementation of this Proclamation.
